As a borrower, you have the option to select any lender you choose. Rose Hulman Institute of Technology does not recommend or endorse any private student loan programs. Students may apply with any private lender, including lenders that are not listed in either tool.

PRIVATE LOAN INFORMATION:

Private student loans can help cover education costs that aren’t fully met by other financial aid. Before considering a private loan, students and families are encouraged to explore  Federal Direct Loans and Federal Direct PLUS Loans  which offer fixed interest rates set by the federal government.

If additional funding is still needed, private lenders offer supplemental loans to help cover the remaining cost of attendance. Private student loans:

  • Do not require students to show financial need.
  • Consider credit history and ability to repay when approving loans.
  • Allow students to borrow up to the difference between the cost of attendance and other financial aid received.
  • Offer different interest rates, fees, and repayment options depending on the lender.

Important: Due to federal regulations, students applying for a private education loan must complete the Private Education Loan Applicant Self‑Certification Form, which is available on the lender’s website. You will need Rose‑Hulman’s cost of attendance information to complete this form.
