Friday, May 28, 2021
Rose-Hulman has concluded the 2020-21 academic year with the completion of spring quarter final exams and now prepares to celebrate its first outdoor Commencement this Saturday, May 29.
The institute’s 143rd Commencement will be an in-person event on Cook Stadium’s Phil Brown Field, starting at 10 a.m., following the traditional processional through campus. President Robert A. Coons will present bachelor’s and master’s diplomas to 416 members of the Class of 2021. Another 65 students will participate in the ceremony in anticipation of completing their degree requirements this summer or fall.
Team Penske President Tim Cindric and Steel Dynamics President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Millett will be presented with Doctor of Engineering honorary degrees. Cindric, a 1990 mechanical engineering alumnus, also will present the Commencement Address.
Each graduate participating in Commencement can have two ticketed guests attend the event in person.
Individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be required to wear a face mask while outdoors. Rose-Hulman officials will maintain other COVID-19 precautions for all in attendance, including socially distanced seating. Masks also are required at any indoor activities.
The walk across campus and ceremony will be available for viewing through a free, live stream for those unable to attend. The event’s webpage also has the latest Commencement details.
