While I enjoy many wonderful memories of my Rose-Hulman professors, I fondly remember Dr. Thom Adams [Mechanical Engineering] for his extensive talents. He made difficult material accessible with his positive attitude and patient demeanor, while also challenging us to be analytical, thorough, and logical. Going above and beyond, Dr. Thom also actively participated in the Rose-Hulman community. In particular, I distinctly remember his incredible guitar performances in Engineers in Concert and his fantastic skills as a playwright for the Drama Club's 24-Hour Play Festival. I found it inspiring to learn from someone that not only taught interesting topics, but was also a genuinely interesting person.
The ideal weekend starts with a brief run, a cup of fresh coffee, and a local newspaper. After that, I would leave home with my wonderful wife, Emily, to explore our downtown neighborhood for some combination of local markets, festivals, art, music, and live theatre.
Star Wars.
