Jenine Dias

Meet Janine

An engineering physics major who likes learning new languages and making up (bad) math and science jokes.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I'm excited to be a part of a group of people who are actively committed to bettering the world around us. I love to surround myself with motivated people and collaborate with as well as learn from them.

How do you spend your free time?

Reading, learning a new language, being outside, nail art, or watching a movie.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I attend Rose-Hulman... Kidding! Although that is pretty nerdy. Other than that, I also come up with (bad) math and science jokes.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I'm really passionate about spreading STEM education because I see too many people giving up on pursuing math and science because it seems too abstract or difficult, and I think in today's society and economy, a strong STEM education goes a long way. I hope to use my knowledge to creatively educate young students and foster an interest in STEM early on so as to give other people an opportunity as problem solvers and world changers.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

I thought the balance between serious academics and fun activities on campus was perfect and I also loved the small size which allows for a lot more personal connections with your classmates and teachers than most prominent engineering schools.
