Michael Fraczek

Meet Michael

A biomedical engineering major from Vancouver, Washington who plays the sax.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I expect to gain insight into the caliber and culture of Rose-Hulman, as well as set up a strong network of peers for the future.

How do you spend your free time?

I enjoy running, swimming, and biking. I like to read science books and fantasy novels. I also play tenor saxophone and like to listen to music during my free time.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I will sometimes spend my free time reading biomedical or chemistry articles from journal databases like PubMed or the New England Journal of Medicine.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I want to use the knowledge I learn to lay the groundwork for graduate and medical school in order to become a physician-engineer. In that position, I hope to advance the field of immunology through research in vaccines or antibody-based treatments.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

I knew that I wanted to attend a small college where I could maximize hands-on experience in order to best determine what field of biomedical engineering I want to pursue. My search led me to Rose-Hulman and I realized it checked those boxes.
