Creation Crates

Creation Crates

Creation Crates is the Rose‑Hulman experimental engineering design-at-home program for high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior years.

Design and Create Your Own Engineering Experiments at Home!

Want to gain the skills to design a knock-out science fair project?

Completing the Creation Crates program will illuminate the potential for experiments in everything you do. Inspired by a Rose-Hulman Mechanical Engineering course, Creation Crates is your opportunity to design your own engineering experiments at home!

With a kit of materials delivered to your doorstep, you will work directly with a Rose-Hulman Mechanical Engineering faculty mentor to design, build, and test a series of experimental apparatuses, use your setup to take experimental measurements, and analyze the trustworthiness of your results.

Consistent with the Rose-Hulman spirit of community and support, Creation Crates students will help each other to navigate the challenging but rewarding features of experimental design. You will also learn about life at Rose-Hulman by getting to know a current student and taking a virtual tour of the campus.

Creation Crates is open to high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior years.

Creation Crates participant

Working with a professor was really great. She made sure I had all my experiments done and that I knew what I was doing – and that if I didn’t, I could ask questions.

Before high school students choose a college major, it’s really important for them to have a little bit of experience in a lot of different areas to figure out what really resonates with them – and what doesn’t.
