Our Sports and Recreation Center (SRC) is a state-of-the-art fitness, intramural and varsity athletic center that contains all of the indoor facilities shown below. It’s a great place to unwind and stay fit!

SRC Fieldhouse

Our fieldhouse includes an indoor track, indoor tennis and volleyball courts, several basketball goals, a climbing wall, and space for indoor hockey. It’s a great place to unwind when you need a break.

Hulbert Arena

The 1,700-seat Hulbert Arena is home to the Fightin’ Engineers men’s and women’s basketball teams and our volleyball squad. We hope you’ll support our teams either as an athlete or a fan during your time at Rose-Hulman!

Cook Stadium

Cook Stadium is the beautiful facility for the Fightin’ Engineers football squad. The stadium seats more than 2,500 fans for fantastic NCAA Division III football action. Phil Brown Field at Cook Stadium got a new surface in 2010 and is kept is top condition for each new gridiron season!

Art Nehf Field

Art Nehf Field is home to the Fightin’ Engineers baseball team. This outstanding facility includes several recent improvements, including new dugouts, a new press box, lights, club seating, improved fencing, batting cages, bullpen areas and an inning-by-inning scoreboard. The field is named for alumnus Art Nehf, one of major league baseball’s most accomplished pitchers during the first quarter of the 20th century. The field has hosted NCAA Division III regional competitions.

Rose-Hulman Softball Field

Our softball field is known as one of the top venues in the Midwest. Constructed in 2000, the field includes lights, full-length dugouts, bleachers, complete bullpens, tarps and a press box. It’s the home to the Fightin’ Engineers softball team.

William Welch Track and Field Complex

We are proud of the outstanding William Welch Track and Field Complex, located at Cook Stadium. The $1-million, state-of-the-art complex features a Martin ISS 1000 surface, used in the Olympic Games and NCAA championships at all levels. It has the bleacher seating of Cook Stadium along with other stadium features. It is home to the Fightin’ Engineers Track and Field and Cross Country teams. The complex is named for former coach Bill Welch, whose 22-year career at Rose-Hulman brought glory to many of his athletes. He was named to the Rose-Hulman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.

Joy Hulbert Outdoor Tennis Courts

The six lighted Joy Hulbert tennis courts were built in 1999, using the same hardcourt surface used at the U.S. Open Complex in New York. Rose-Hulman also has access to the local Wabash Valley Tennis Center which features six indoor courts. The lighted outdoor facility is named for Joy Hulbert, Rose-Hulman’s first lady for 28 years, a dedicated supporter of the institution and its students, and a fierce competitor at tennis.

Natatorium

While serving as home to the Fightin' Engineers swimming and diving programs, the Rose-Hulman natatorium also provides a home for all recreational and educational swimming on campus. This modern eight-lane pool is 25 yards in length, features a score board, starting blocks, and upper-level stadium seating. It also features new lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows providing a beautiful view of the campus.

Multi-Purpose Room

The Multi-Purpose Room is the most reserved room in the Sports and Recreation Center. With seating for 100 spectators the room is used for a variety of activities, including exercise classes, clubs, meetings, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies, and many other events. It is conveniently located adjacent to the indoor track, weight room and the cardio room.

Intramural Fields

Rose-Hulman's intramural fields are heavily used by students, with nearly 75 percent of all students participating in at least one intramural activity. The fields are also used for varsity practices, home soccer matches, flag football, a sno-ball softball tournament, ultimate Frisbee, and 3-pitch softball. The fields include bleacher seating and are conveniently located just east of the Joy Hulbert tennis courts.

Weight and Cardio Rooms

The SRC weight room features Hammer Strength and Magnum exercise equipment that can be used by everyone from beginners to advanced weight lifters. The adjacent cardio room features the latest cardio equipment, television screens, sound systems and more. Both rooms are supervised while the SRC is open and staff are available by appointment to explain how to use the equipment.

Racquetball Courts

Rose-Hulman has two outstanding racquetball courts that are frequently used. Located inside the SRC, they are also sometimes used for martial arts groups or other activities. They can be reserved by contacting the SRC staff.

Bouldering Wall

The Bouldering Wall in the SRC is one of the newest recreational facilities at Rose-Hulman. The popular wall includes climbing features of all types and offers a challenge for everyone from beginners to advanced climbers.  It is supervised by SRC staff at all times while in use and is an outstanding addition to the fitness options we offer.
