Environmental Health & Safety

We also provide environmental, health and safety services to the campus community through technical and regulatory compliance assistance, information and training programs, consulting services and periodic auditing of environmental, health and safety practices.

Environmental Health & Safety

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety assists the Institute in its teaching, research and public service mission by promoting a safe and healthful environment for faculty, staff, students and visitors. The primary responsibility of the department is to provide environmental, health and safety services to the campus community through technical and regulatory compliance assistance, information and training programs, consulting services and periodic auditing of environmental, health and safety practices.

Rose-Hulman is dedicated to the protection and conservation of the environment. Established Federal and state regulations require that the Institute ensure that hazardous, bio-hazardous, radioactive, and universal wastes are properly managed “cradle-to-grave."  EH&S manages all of these waste streams with great care.

Emergency Preparedness

The RHIT Emergency Response Plan (ERP) establishes procedures and responsibilities in the event of emergency events affecting campus. The ERP is reviewed annually and exercised multiple times per year.

Education

Quick action is needed to prevent the loss of lives and injuries during an emergency. EH&S has prepared training programs and educational materials to help students, faculty and staff know what they must do before, during and after an emergency, both on campus and at home.

Questions should be directed to Jake Campbell, Assistant Vice President of Safety, Security, and Environmental Services.
