FIRST JOB AFTER ROSE-HULMAN?

Mechanical Design Engineer, Tesla Motors.

MOST VALUABLE LESSON YOU LEARNED ON THAT JOB?

I learned that it’s best not to use acronyms. When you are constantly growing as we are at Tesla, it is important to have new team members get up to speed quickly. This allows them to have an impact sooner. Acronyms prevent quick learning. Therefore, we don't use them and it truly works.

MOST MEMORABLE ROSE-HULMAN PROFESSOR?

Tie: Dr. Chambers [Mechanical Engineering] and Dr. Herniter [Electrical and Computer Engineering] were the co-advisers of EcoCAR. They were influential in my education, as well as helpful in getting me a job at Tesla.

IDEAL WEEKEND?

Kiteboarding in an exotic locale.

STAR TREK OR STAR WARS?

Star Wars.

WHAT IS THE NERDIEST THING YOU DO?

I attend an event called Nerd Night once a month that has three presenters talk about their work, which can range in topics from architecture to curing cancer.
