Tamara McCollough Joins Rose-Hulman as Director of Public Safety
Public Safety welcomes Tamara McCollough as our new Director of Public Safety, effective January 17, 2022.
A native of Michigan City, Indiana, McCollough is mindful of her upbringing and it continues to propel her to reach greater heights. She has nearly 16 years of experience working in law enforcement and for a public safety department at a higher education institution. She served as police lieutenant, Clery compliance officer, field training program coordinator, and accreditation manager at Indiana State University Police Department. She is also an adjunct lecturer for the School of Criminology and Security Studies at Indiana State University, teaching Ethics in Criminal Justice.
McCollough earned both her bachelor and master’s degrees in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana State University. She was a recipient of the University Medallion in 2017, the Alumni Engagement award for outstanding community service in 2018, and was a Tribune-Star and the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce 12 Under 40 award recipient also in 2018. She is currently a doctoral candidate pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership & Management at Drexel University.
She enjoys giving back to the community, noting it took a village to get to her where she is today. She is a member of Kappa Tau Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated out of Bloomington, Indiana.
In her spare time, she enjoys having quality time with her wonderful husband Wendell and her English Bulldog.
