This is a 1 ?? hour class and is an introductory class to the BIC Welding Shop and BIC safety procedures. It is a requirement for students looking to gain access to the Welding shop. Applying safety practices according to the American National Standards Institute, this class will prepare you to take the more advanced ???Welding Practices 1??? class. Students will make fillet welds in the flat and horizontal positions on carbon steel as well as groove welds in the flat position on carbon steel. Wear shop appropriate clothes (closed shoes, pants ??? no synthetics, and hair pulled back) and be ready to work on the welding equipment in the shop. Classes will be held in the BIC welding room.
