Eli Lilly Leader and Alumnus Dedric Day Featured in Swearingen Leadership Series

Alumnus Dedric Day, who has worked at Eli Lilly and Company for over 21 years, will speak on campus through the Swearingen Leadership Series on April 7.

Dedric Day, a leader at Eli Lilly and Company who graduated from Rose-Hulman in 2003 with a degree in chemical engineering, will speak at Rose-Hulman as part of the Swearingen Leadership Series on April 7. The event will take place in the Mussallem Union's Kahn Room at 11 a.m. 

Day has worked at Eli Lilly and Company for 21 years, holding leadership roles in engineering, operations, and technical services/manufacturing sciences in manufacturing modalities including API, Dry Products Packaging, and Device Manufacturing as well as being Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified.

His most recent experiences were in a global role as the Senior Director of the Process Engineering Center as part of Eli Lilly and Company's central engineering organization, providing strategic business improvements across all manufacturing sites within Lilly as well as resourcing subject matter experts to speed the delivery of the new manufacturing sites. 

In July of 2023, Day accepted the newly created role of Sr. Director - HR Strategic Talent Partnerships. In this role, he has responsibility for creating a talent eco-system leveraging partnerships with local high schools, key higher education organizations, and state entities associated with Indiana's Biotech Hub activities.

The Swearingen Leadership Series at Rose-Hulman aims to develop leadership skills among STEM students by featuring distinguished speakers. Past speakers include Kate Maxwell, Chief Technology Officer of Microsoft Federal, and Hank Green, science communicator and internet entrepreneur. The series is part of Rose-Hulman’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program, which prepares students for leadership roles in their fields. The Swearingen Leadership Series was established through support from John Swearingen, a 1981 Rose-Hulman chemical engineering alumnus, and his wife, Anne.
