Mission Statement
The purpose of the Rose-Hulman Human Powered Vehicle Team is to design a vehicle to compete in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Human Powered Vehicle Challenge and Human Powered Race America, to further the goals of sustainable transportation by raising awareness for the field of human powered vehicles and implementing innovative methods, while providing a positive learning and working environment for students.
The Human Powered Vehicle Team is a group of undergraduate engineering students who plan, test, build, and race HPVs. The team's goal each year is to build a vehicle to race in the Human Powered Vehicle Challenge sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

2011 Team
The team also participates in various events through an organization called Human Powered RaceAmerica to give riders extra racing experience.
Each year the team starts from scratch to build a brand new vehicle which must be completed and ready to race by spring. The team is always looking for new members, and you don't have to be a mechanical engineer to join!
Our team has completed five vehicles so far, making great improvements each year. For the last three years, the team has won first place overall at both the East and West Coast Human Powered Vehicle Challenge, our two main competitions.
The fastest recorded speed achieved by a Rose-Hulman student is 46.5 mph.
