Marisela Miranda Molina

Meet Marisela

A mechanical engineering major with a love of languages and making mobile applications.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I expect to be within a thriving community where I can learn from others and express my ideas. Being a part of the Noblitt Scholars program will provide me with insight to reach my future aspirations. I expect to gain valuable opportunities, which will guide me to realize my own goals. I hope to see my ideas broadened and influenced by a strongly ambitious environment. All the while, I hope to build upon my questions and make diverse connections.

How do you spend your free time?

During my free time, I am drawn to learning different languages. I enjoy working on improving the three languages I have learned. While grammar rules are delicate in any language, I enjoy stumbling upon my different mistakes and being able to correct flaws on my own. I have found beauty in language. The way different permutations are able to be pieced together to formulate original ideas fascinates me. Through language, I have grown immensely, and I am always working on growing further.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I often find myself reading about different mobile applications. I gather information from already invented programs to understand the fast-developing processes of mobile application designs. I find inspiration within daily activities to create corresponding applications. Though I have only made app prototypes on my computer, my now-hidden hobby may help others in the future.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I hope for the knowledge I gain from Rose-Hulman to lead me to reach my own entrepreneurial goals. With the opportunities from Rose-Hulman, I will be guided toward making innovative discoveries. I hope to become a leading mechanical engineer who reliably finds the most potent solutions for the community. The knowledge I gain will allow me to properly take into consideration the needs of the people and the environment. I hope to create durable technologies for modern issues while helping protect the environment. Within any invention I create, I hope to not only address a community's technological needs but to better the environment anytime my inventions are used. I hope to gather visionary ideas to work toward a satisfied community and against pollution and climate change.
