Arrival & Orientation

Arrival

International exchange students arriving for fall quarter will need to arrive at the Indianapolis International Airport the Monday or Tuesday before your formal Exchange Student Orientation begins. Students arriving for winter or spring quarters will need to arrive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. three business days before the start of the quarter. This is typically the Wednesday and Thursday before classes begin.

Rose-Hulman is located one hour by car from the airport, and we will need to arrange transportation service to pick you up. Therefore, it is very important that we have accurate information about your arrival date and time. Please forward your complete itinerary from your home country departure airport to Indianapolis International Airport to the Center for Global Engagement at global@rose-hulman.edu.

Orientation

Upon arrival at Rose-Hulman, we will have an Exchange Student Orientation to help you become familiar with campus and inform you about important immigration regulations. This orientation is mandatory and will take place before classes begin. Along with the Exchange Student Orientation, you will participate in a Laptop Orientation in which you will receive your Rose-Hulman laptop and learn about computing and network access on campus. This orientation is also mandatory as is the Rose-Hulman laptop. This computer will be important for completing your homework assignments and projects.

Apart from the orientations, your first few days on campus will be filled with activities to help you become familiar with Rose-Hulman and your surroundings. You will have a chance to tour campus, meet your Resident Assistant and roommates in your residence hall, and go shopping for items you need for your room and classes.

We are excited you’ve chosen Rose-Hulman and we want to make your visit to the United States and our campus as stress-free and personally fulfilling as possible.
