Dr. Alan Chiu is an expert in neural engineering. Much of his research focuses on neural modeling and brain-computer interfaces, which can provide treatment options and assistance for individuals with neurological diseases or disabilities by providing ways for them to interact with the outside world. Dr. Chiu strongly supports undergraduate student research activities. He was the co-director for the Independent Project/Research Opportunities Program (IPROP) at Rose-Hulman, and is the Samuel F. Hulbert Endowed Chair in Biomedical Engineering, where he supervises many undergraduate research projects throughout the academic year and over the summer. Currently, Dr. Chiu is serving as a BMES Commissioner for the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
