After completing today's reading, exercises, and the associated homework you should be able to:

• Define thermodynamic cycle
• Classify thermodynamic cycles by
  • working fluid,
  • physical structure (closed system/periodic vs. open-system/steady-state), and
  • purpose (power cycles/heat engines vs. reverse cycles/refrigerators/heat-pumps).
• Apply conservation of energy to generic cycles to find work, heat transfer, etc.
• Evaulate cycle performance by calculating the appropriate measure of performace (MOP)
