This course provides comprehensive analysis of the major issues in facilities management and planning of production and service facilities. The course emphasizes the use of quantitative and qualitative analysis in the design process. Topics include facility location, plant layout, space requirements, materials handling, system flow analysis, facility design, design algorithms, and distribution systems. Students will apply course concepts to their work environment. The work environment must contain some phases of the design process such as stakeholder analysis, conceptual design, risk analysis, detail design, manufacturing, testing, validation, or recycling. Students may not receive undergraduate credit for both ENGD 316 and EMGT E537.
