The Branam Innovation Center (BIC)
"Where Innovation Lives"
Step into the Branam Innovation Center (BIC) and you’ll find students discussing, designing, and building their latest creations. Teams huddle ahead of intense competitions, clubs unveil new innovations, and individual students tweak their latest projects.
The BIC is alive with activity, where students are inspired to bring their creative best to their science and engineering passions. The 16,200-square-foot open workspace promotes multidisciplinary collaboration with easy access to tools, spare parts, a machine shop, welding room, paint booth, and a conference room.
The facility enjoys the support of many leading corporate partners who underwrite many activities in the center. Those companies often seek students with BIC experience at hiring time.
Late Rose-Hulman President Matt Branam dreamed of a wide-open workspace where students could collaborate across majors, usher in new designs, and form new friendships. He saw that vision come true in 2011 with the opening of the Student Innovation Center. The facility was renamed in his honor in 2012.
