This marking gauge was inspired by one designed by Chris Schwarz. I modified a marking gauge that had two wear strips inlayed. I removed the inlay and modified an oak dowl rod to fit into the space of the channels for the wear strips. I then drilled and used screws to affix the dowl rods. It works but is not as pretty as it could be. I doubt I wear out this tool, hence, I plan to redo the dowls and simply glue them in.
