I designed this walnut blanket chest myself. It has a solid cedar bottom and a lid with a raised panel top. The primary reason for building this chest was to apply what I read about how to cut dovetails by hand. (I will post my observations soon.) In order to make the raised panel, I built a plane with the desired angle. I wanted to use handtools as much as possible and used powertools primarily to make the boards square. After glueing up the boards, I handplaned them to an even and smooth surface. The hinges are made by Brusso and I made the stay from a piece of brass and the rivet from a brass screw. The finish is Tried and True varnish oil and Sam Maloof's Oil/Wax finish.
