To replace the laminated small bookcase that I used to store my CDs, I built this small bookcase. I reached a stange where I wanted to experiment with different woods. It is made from 12" mahagony and has movable shelves. Here, I experimented with an overhang at the top, which I achieved by glueing an 1.5" piece of mahagony to the back of the case top. I also added a quarter round piece to the underside of the overhang. This was an experiment in patience. I used a router to cut the quarter round edge and then trimmed the piece to about 1/2 an inch with a manual planer. At the bottom of the bookcase, I moved the kickplate(?) forward and topped it with another quarter round piece of mahagony.
