Course DescriptionDigital systems have played a dramatic role in technology development for the last half century, and continue to play an ever expanding role in new technology -- high-definition television (HDTV), personal digital assistants (PDAs), cellular phones, global positioning systems (GPS), and palm-top computers, just to name a few. Semiconductor manufacturers continue to increase the number of transistors packed onto an integrated circuit, so the performance of digital systems continues to improve while the cost continues to fall. Digital systems are employed in virtually all electronic equipment today! ECE130 will introduce you to the basic building blocks of digital systems -- logic gates, combinational logic, and sequential logic. In addition, you will learn design methods that will help you to convert a system specification into a real system implementation.
