Biography: Colm Mulcahy received his Ph.D. from Cornell University. He
is a member of the Department of Mathematics at Spelman College. He
recently won the Carl B. Allendoerfer Award for his expository article "Plotting
and Scheming with Wavelets" in Mathematics Magazine. Dr. Mulcahy is
a member of AMS, MAA, SIAM, ACM, IEEE, AAAS (American Association for the
Advancement of Science), and IMS (Irish Mathematical Society). His
research interests are concerned with the rich interplay between various
combinations of mathematics, software, and select areas within computer science
