Overview
Follow these instructions to install a Bluetooth driver.
- If you have a 2009-2010 laptop, you do NOT have to do this installation, since your laptop came with a Microsoft driver for Bluetooth.
- The driver below has been tested on 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 laptops; it may not work on older laptops.
Installing the driver
- You may need to login as localmgr to install this driver.
- Download this zipped driver installer,
then unzip it and run the unzipped result.
- This file is big (about 100MB), so you would be wise to download it while on campus.
- When prompted to log off, do so, then log back in.
Configure the Bluetooth Software (warning — I am not sure that the following is correct)
- Once you log back in, a Bluetooth icon
should appear in your Taskbar in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.
Double-click this icon to run Initial Bluetooth Configuration.
- When you reach "Bluetooth Services" make sure that "Bluetooth Serial" is checked.
- Complete the configuration wizard, and click Cancel to exit setup when finished.
