Attendance Policy
- Do the sessions in order — Session 1, then Session 2, etc.
- Attend each session electronically, as follows:
- Choose any of the session times that we have agreed upon. (See your email for details.)
- It is NOT important that you be "on time", but it IS important that that you allow at least 1 hour
(and preferably 2 hours) for the session.
- When you are ready to begin a class session,
use Microsoft Lync to Instant Message (IM) me.
(Follow the link if you are unsure how to use Microsoft Lync to do this.)
- Just say Hi or something.
- I will respond to let you know that I am online and listening.
- If I do not reply within 5 minutes or so, something has gone wrong.
You can try to email or call me in that case.
- Ask questions via Microsoft Lync's IM.
If you prefer, you can try calling me, but I can (in theory) handle multiple IM's
but only one phone call at a time.
- I may ask you to show me your screen, by doing the following:
In a Microsoft Lync IM, [details to be supplied at a later date].
- You are expected to attend all classes (electronically) as above.
That is so that I can answer your questions right away.
- If you find this is awkward for you, either in general or for a specific session,
contact me via email so that we can talk about how best to proceed.
- In the first 7 weeks, you may fall behind the weekly schedule
by as many as 4 sessions without harm.
In that case, use the "catch-up" weeks to catch up.
We want to help you succeed in this course; falling behind is the most common reason for not doing well in this course.
