Testing your Oracle9i Client Connection

Requirements

• Oracle 9i client

Procedure

1. Open Net Manager.
   • Open the Start Menu
   • Open "Programs"
   • Open "Oracle - OraHome90
   • Open "Configuration and Migration Tools"
   • Click on "Net Manager"
   
2. Select the service you configured during installation.
   • Under "Oracle Net Configuration", expand "Local".
   • Expand "Service Naming".
   • Click on the service name you chose during installation
     • The installation guide used "cs333".
   
3. Test connection
   • Click the 3^rd button on the vertical toolbar at the left to run the test.
   
4. Connection test dialog
   • This dialog box will pop up and attempt to login as scott/tiger.
   • It will state that the test was successful or give an error message.
   • Click "Close".
   
5. What to do if the test fails
   • Ensure that your connection settings match those shown in the images on this page.
   • Email Professor Oexmann.
