Indium Phosphide Waveguide team

Troy in his lab

Team Members : Troy Anderson

Faculty Advisor(s): Galen Duree and Azad Siahmakoun

The prospective goal for this team is to design and construct a waveguide for 1320 and 980 nm in InP. The waveguide must have the same transverse dimensions throughout the crystal. Applied voltage and the temperature of the crystal will be varied to find the conditions for which a spatial soliton is formed. Using this information, two solitions will be introduced into the crystal and their interaction will be investigated for the possibility of producing an optical switch. Conditions will also be studied to generate a Y-junction in the material, again for possible use of optical switch.
