Photorefractive Optical Switch team

The prospective goal for this team is to design and construct photorefractive switches utilizing the electro-optic effect. Appropriate calculations will be performed to determine the optimum grating orientation and voltage necessary to develop a switch with maximum contrast. The gratings will be formed in LiNbO3 using the photorefractive effect and fixed using thermal fixing techniques. Once the switch has been developed, the device will be characterized for modulation depth versus RF signal.
