- Heat conduction and thermal conductivity
- Heats of fusion and vaporization
- Thermal expansion coefficients
- (be able to show that the volume expansion coefficient
is three times the linear one)
- ideal gas equation of state
- Chapter 19
- Zero-th law of thermodynamics (what does it say about
equilibrium?)
- First law of thermodynamics (heat, internal energy, work)
- Must know the signs and their meanings in the first law
- Must be able to calculate work done in various parts
of a thermodynamic cycle
- adiabatic process: pV^(gamma) = constant
- What about the internal energy of an ideal gas? What
does it depend on?
