Homework Assignments

• Homework 1 Due Friday September 9. Do these problems.

• Homework 2 Due Monday September 19. Read Sections 2.1, 2.2, pages 49 to 56 of Section 2.4, and my notes on the "Continuity Equation," "Derivation of the Wave Equation," and the "Lorentz Transformation" (the latter just for fun).
  • Section 2.1: Problems 2.1.4, 2.1.6.
  • Section 2.2: Problems 2.2.16, 2.2.20, 2.2.31.
  • Section 2.4: Problems 2.4.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.6, 2.4.12, 2.4.16.

• Homework 3 Due Tuesday September 27. Skim over sections 3.1 to 3.4; it's some basic stuff on Fourier series, mostly review. For practice do 3.1.4, 3.2.2(a), 3.2.22, 3.2.31, 3.2.34, 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.4.1. Use Maple all you like for integrals.

• Homework 4 Due Tuesday October 4. Do these problems.

• Homework 5 Due Monday October 24. Do these problems.

• Homework 6 Due Thursday November 3. Read section 4.3. Do problems 4.3.1, 4.3.3, 4.3.8, 4.3.10(b), 4.3.25(c), 4.3.31, 4.3.50. For solutions involving Fourier series, just give me 5 terms.
