NEWS: Rose-Hulman Commencement 2016

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will present bachelor’s and master’s degrees to its largest graduating class, with 540 students, during the 138th commencement on Saturday, May 28. Another 40 members of the Class of 2016 will be recognized in anticipation of completing academic degree requirements following the summer or fall academic quarters.

The ceremony will be conducted in the fieldhouse area of the Sports and Recreation Center, starting at 11 a.m. People unable to attend, but wishing to view the ceremony, can watch the event through a live webcast, starting at 10:45 a.m.

Mechanical engineering alumnus Patrick J. Noyes, president and chief executive officer of Texas-based Grenadier Energy Partners, will present the commencement address and receive an honorary doctorate of engineering.

Also receiving honorary doctorate of engineering degrees will be Caterpillar Inc. Group President D. James (Jim) Umpleby III and Dennis A. Smith, vice president of oil drilling industry leader Nabors Industries. Both are mechanical engineering alumni.

Besides receiving their diplomas, select members of the Class of 2016 will be recognized for academic, leadership, extracurricular activities, and helping make Rose-Hulman a better place. Two faculty members and one staff members will be honored for their teaching, research, and service to the institute.
