Broadway Illusionist Reinventing Magic and Entertainment
September 13, 2016
Crowd Pleaser: Adam Trent starred on Broadway with “The Illusionists” and has earned a Small Venue Entertainer of the Year Award.
Known as “The Futurist” for his technology-infused tricks, Adam Trent brings his unique spin on traditional magic shows to the Hatfield Hall Theater stage on September 22 in a spectacle that promises to be an exciting evening for the entire family.
Trent was a star in the hit Broadway show “The Illusionists.” He now performs more than 300 shows a year and makes regular national and international television appearances. His approach to magic has been described as “Justin Timberlake meets David Copperfield,” as his fast-paced, interactive performances are part magic show, part stand-up comedy, and part dance routine.
“Adam presents magic in a way that is fresh, funny, engaging, and totally entertaining," says Dan Tryon, director of performing arts. “There is a good reason that he has been featured on Today, Ellen, America's Got Talent, Good Morning America, The Disney Channel, and Syfy Channel.”
Trent has been perfecting his craft since he was 9 years old, focusing on connecting with audience members—even those who don’t like magic shows—to provide an entertaining experience that has been popular with audiences around the world. His performances have received high praise from The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and The Associated Press.
Going beyond the tried-and-true tricks, his various acts include creating a series of illusions using a giant LED-based wall, performing with a camera on his head to give the audience a first-person perspective, grappling with a “sleepless pillow,” and giving audience members the ultimate scare by dropping a phone into a blender.
In addition to his grueling performance schedule, Trent has a long history of philanthropic work, landing on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 10 Most Influential Youths in America.
Tickets for the Adam Trent–Magician Reinvented show are $24 for adults and $19 for youths.
