Senior Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer Rob Coons Earns Local Rotary Club’s Vocational Service Award

Rob Coons, senior vice president and chief administrative officer at Rose-Hulman, has earned the Rotary Club of Terre Haute’s 2014 Vocational Service Award in recognition of his professional contributions and community volunteer work. Vocational service is one of the six avenues of service recognized by Rotary International.
Coons has had a variety of finance and management-level positions since joining Rose-Hulman in 1989, including service as interim president during the 2012-13 academic year. He has received the President’s Outstanding Service Award in 2010 and Honor Alumni Award in 2013.
He has played a key role in organizing the framework for the formulation of the goals and strategies in Rose-Hulman’s Strategic Plan 2014-2018. Many of these strategies are now being implemented through his guidance.
Coons is currently serving as vice president of the Indiana Risk Management Association’s Board of Trustees, a member of the UAP Clinic’s Board of Managers, and a member of the Union Hospital/Union Health System’s Board of Directors and audit committee.
He is past-president of the Indiana Association of College and University Business Officers, and has held a variety of committee appointments on the Central Association of College and University Business Officers. He is past-treasurer of Vigo County Lifeline, a Wabash Valley United Way volunteer, a graduate of Leadership Terre Haute, and member of the Downtown Rotary Club.
Coons earned a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana State University and a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education Institute for Education Management Program.
He and his wife, Tammy, have three daughters and one grandson.
