January 13, 2015
Alumnus Pete Hinzy has been appointed vice president and general manager of Prater Industries, a global leader in developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art airlocks, mills, and separators.
Hinzy, a 1992 mechanical engineering graduate, has more than 20 years of hands-on management experience focused on continually improving operations. He will provide a corporate vision, an operational strategy, and lean manufacturing leadership allowing Prater Industries, based in Bolingbrook, Illinois, to remain competitive in the global marketplace.
“I’m thrilled to be joining a market leader with such a long history of manufacturing solutions,” says Hinzy in a company news release. “I look forward to streamlining operations to provide the highest quality products to our customers, while getting the most out of Prater’s operation.”
Most recently, Hinzy served as director of continuous improvement for BWAY Corporation, an enterprise with global sales exceeding $1 billion by providing packaging solutions for large manufacturers, container distributors, and small businesses. His BWAY responsibilities included developing an operational excellence program based upon lean manufacturing fundamentals, Six Sigma, and world-class manufacturing practices throughout 29 plants.
Hinzy’s achievements include leading and participating in multiple lean transformations throughout the many plants he has managed.
“Pete brings a depth of experience in lean transformation, machining, and fabrication operations, as well as the drive and enthusiasm Prater needs in the vice president and general manager position for continued success,” says Bud Shear, chief executive officer of Prater Industries’ parent company, Industrial Magnetics, Inc.
Hinzy is a member of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence and Society of Manufacturing Engineering, and has Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
