MAJORING IN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING AT ROSE-HULMAN

Biomedical engineers help develop solutions for treating and diagnosing disease, as well as for helping people with disabilities.

As a biomedical engineering major at Rose, you’ll have the opportunity to customize your upper-level electives to help you pursue your professional goals. Our biomedical engineering program features an extensive design component. You’ll work with skilled faculty on developing the highly sought-after skills in industry. Our program has been ranked as one of the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

We also offer a biochemistry and molecular biology  second major or minor, and many of our grads have gone on to  medical school.

For graduates, we offer a  Master’s Degree in biomedical engineering in cooperation with faculty from the Rose-Hulman departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics & Optical Engineering.

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (Second Major Only)

A second major in biochemistry & molecular biology is a strong supplement to any life sciences program. This second major provides the background and understanding necessary to open up career possibilities in the natural and life sciences fields.

Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering

For graduates with an engineering degree who wish to pursue a career in health care, a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering is an exciting choice. This program draws heavily on your engineering knowledge while applying that knowledge to the biological life sciences.

Bill Weiner

Dr. Bill Weiner is an expert in circadian rhythms, the sensory processing of neural systems and invertebrate vision. He enjoys teaching and trying to maximize each student’s potential. His efforts were recognized by the Princeton Review, being listed among the Best 300 Professors in America book. He also has been recognized among the outstanding professors on campus and spent a year helping examine how to incorporate engineering design concepts into the institute’s curriculum.
